Features of Haynes 188

HAYNES is a nickel-based corrosion-resistant alloy, mainly divided into nickel-chromium alloy and nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy. HAYNES has good corrosion resistance and thermal stability, and is mostly used in the aviation industry and the chemical field.


Among them, Haynes 188 is a special cobalt-based alloy with unique high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance, which still has sufficient ductility after long-term exposure to the temperature range of 1400-1600°F. Compared with nickel-based alloys, cobalt-based alloys have inherent high-temperature creep properties. 


Haynes 188 added 14% tungsten during solid solution strengthening, and then added M6C and M23C6 carbides. Alloy 188 is easy to process, suitable for both manual and automatic welding. Welding methods include electron beam, tungsten gas argon arc welding and resistance welding.




It has excellent strength, oxidation resistance and thermal stability, and is more and more widely used in military and civil aviation engine burners and other key parts. It is widely used in the aviation industry, the manufacture of military and commercial gas engine combustion chambers, ducts, rear gas parts, etc.


Haynes 188 is a solid solution strengthened material with excellent high temperature strength and good processability at room temperature. It can work for a long time at 650°C and higher. 1Haynes 188’s strength is better than other nickel-based solid solution strengthened alloys, far exceeding ordinary nickel-chromium or iron-nickel-chromium heat-resistant alloys. If Haynes 188 is used to replace these materials, the use of materials can be greatly reduced.
