Keysight Technologies Launches LoadCore, New 5G Core Network Test Solution

Beijing, May 6, 2020 – Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) announced the launch of LoadCore 5G Core Network (5GC) test software. China Mobile Communications Research Institute (CMRI) used this test scheme to verify the 5GC performance of 5GC network equipment provided by major infrastructure manufacturers. Keysight Technologies is a leading technology company dedicated to helping enterprises, service providers and government customers accelerate innovation and create a secure, connected world.

New mobile communication standards are becoming increasingly popular, and mobile operators are upgrading from Evolved Packet Core (EPC) to 5GC to accommodate this trend. By combining 5G NR deployments implementing standalone (SA) mode with a virtualized network architecture, mobile operators can efficiently use network slicing to allocate resources for various application scenarios. But at the same time, they need to manage vast numbers of devices and connections in order to deliver service-level agreements (SLAs) to consumers and industries.

Keysight LoadCore 5GC test software simulates complex real-world user models, enabling mobile operators and network equipment manufacturers (NEMs) to verify the performance and reliability of 5GC networks for voice and data communications services. Carrier-grade Quality of Service (QoS) will ensure that consumers can use a variety of data-intensive applications such as video, gaming, and businesses in industries such as automotive, manufacturing, energy, and utilities that are highly dependent on critical IoT applications.

Keysight LoadCore 5GC test software is a component of Keysight’s comprehensive portfolio of test solutions that support continuous verification of network performance from the RAN edge to the cloud for the connected ecosystem. To verify that wireless applications using 4G or 5G technology can meet end user expectations, Keysight’s test solutions enable mobile operators and network equipment manufacturers (NEMs) to simultaneously validate 5G, legacy radio access networks (RAN) and 5GC.

“5G networks require the verification of many advanced capabilities, including Elastic scalability, network slicing, and multi-access edge computing (MEC) capabilities. Keysight’s new LoadCore 5GC cloud-native test solution will enable service providers and network equipment manufacturers to fully validate the entire process from development to deployment 5G core network.”

Yan Zhongyi, global vice president and general manager of Greater China at Keysight, said: “We are very honored to provide China Mobile with advanced test solutions to help them successfully transition from 4G to 5G and successfully complete the ambitious goals of their 5G deployment strategy. Under this strategy, China Mobile has provided 5G services to more than 50 major cities in China. Keysight LoadCore can help CMRI efficiently and reliably verify whether the deployed 5G network equipment can support the extremely complex user models and traffic models of today and the future. “

The Keysight LoadCore 5GC test software enables users to perform network capacity tests, measure device data throughput, and model various end-user characteristics and mobile communication scenarios. As a scalable 5GC network performance verification solution, it can verify whether the network connection services provided by operators can maintain stable performance under various harsh conditions (such as sudden surges in network traffic caused by disasters or other major events) .
